Project duration: 12/2013 – 12/2015
Project code number: 2013-1-TR1-LEO05-47505
Funding guideline: Life Long Learning Programme Leonardo da Vinci – transfer of Innovation
Initial situation
With the opening of borders, the world of sport is becoming increasingly international. More and more athletes, officials and coaches are working abroad and the international exchange makes English the working language in sport.
Therefore, in addition to basic language courses, all athletes and officials need easily accessible learning material that opens up the specific vocabulary in their sports.
Target groups and their benefits
The TengSports project links educational institutions and language teachers with national bodies and sports clubs responsible for top athletes, coaches, sports managers and referees in handball and athletics. They can thus offer blended learning courses for "English as a technical language for sport" on the basis of the material developed in the project and thus strengthen international exchange opportunities.
Project goal
The aim of the TengSports project is to develop a methodology of a course "English as a technical language for sport" and to adapt it to the partner countries. For this purpose, the learning needs are first identified and then the language acquisition is systematically supported. In the process, mainly innovative teaching methods such as teaching videos oriented to practical situations and an interactive learning platform were used.
Role of ISOB
ISOB is responsible for the scientific monitoring, for the quality assurance of the content and supervises the self-evaluation of the project. ISOB translates the vocabulary of the multimedia guides into German.
